How I Met Your Mother

Ok so a good buddy got me into watching this, and i have really enjoyed season 1 so far....................

because it reminded me of Friends. You know, the whole group of friends who hang out at the same place, who live in NYC, and friends hook up with each other etc.

Anyone else get that vibe from this show?

Crazy Petrol Prices In Sydney

This morning i bought my usual V power from the Shell servo at Kingsgrove North, prices were more than 160 cents per litre, which is an absolute joke imo.

what i really want to know is, Australia has oil reserves. I dont know for sure, but i think Australia can technically be self supporting for petroleum. So how are we affected so much by global influences? Would appreciate if someone can clarify this

Aaliyah Haughton - Missed Always

Today i went on a journey back in time, to one of my favourite all time performers and a unique talent - Aaliyah. No words can describe how talented she was, and personally i was influenced by her music, particularly the "One In A Million" album, which unfortunately i have lost :(

RIP Aaliyah, a truly stellar talent lost, the world still mourns

More info @ Wikipedia Wikipedia Link

And a Youtube link Aaliyah - I Miss You (with tributes)

Volvo Drivers

Ok so most of my close buddies know i drive a Volvo. And Volvo drivers rightly or wrongly have a negative image in some ways, due to the fact that many many years ago Volvos were boxy but extremely safe cars driven by older drivers.

So before u click on the jump below, whats your opinion of Volvo drivers?

Portland Trail Blazers Cursed?

I have been a diehard fan of the Blazers since 1988, when i first saw Clyde "The Glide" soaring over the Lakers in a regular season game for a huge dunk, and then the following seasons when a team first ethic yielded 2 finals appearances and league wide respect.

Following a few disasterous seasons, following the draft of Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge, things got better. A LOT better. but the past 2 seasons the Blazers have had pretty much the worst injury rate and games lost to injury of any team in the league (i dont count the warriors seriously).

I am beginning to think the team is cursed.

The Great Pork Roll Debate

I have been a customer of King's Hot Bread, Forest Rd Hurstville probably since i was in my teens (so 10 years or so). But one of the enduring debates amongst savvy pork roll aficionados is who makes the best Pork Rolls in Sydney? Apparently shops in Cabramatta, Bankstown etc. make awesome Pork Rolls but i cant say they rox my sox to be honest.

Your opinion?

Sydney Heat Wave

So apparently the past week or so is the hottest in history or something, heard a snippet about it when listening to the radio, apologies if its not 100% factual since i didnt hear the full story.

Considering the entire week has been 30+ and indeed most of the time during the middle of the day it feels like 35-40 i cant remember ever having a stretch of time like this ever.

Even worse, QLD is just a disaster zone in general, floods the cyclones, whats next?

I saw this on TV (copied from heraldsun.com.au) :

Then i remembered seeing this in the movie "The Day After Tomorrow":

Yea i was kinda spooked when i saw it too, in the end i just hope the QLDers are ok and the damage is minimal.

Flood Victims Levy

Ok so i was listening to the radio on the morning tortuous drive to work, and apparently people earning over 52k will be lucky enough to pay a one off to assist flood victims.

I got no probs with that except i think if you can provide evidence that you have already donated, then that amount should be deducted from your extra tax.

I dont know the exact number, but if someone for example was taxed an additional 1000, but had already donated 500, then their levy should be 500. Apart from that i think most Aussies are ok with the levy, although the work "Tax" is never recieved that well.

Your thoughts?

Simple Things In Life

This morning i was pleasantly surprised to be asked for ID when i bought a pack of smokes. In fact now i think about it at least 75% of the time i get asked for ID when buying smokes or alcohol. The only time i dont is when i buy from my regular store on Hurstville station since the guy recognises me because i have been a customer there for years.

Do you guys still get asked for ID when buying smokes/grog? And do you consider it a compliment to be asked for ID?

The Rebirth Of Trance

Although i was excited by the sounds of hardstyle when i first heard it back maybe 2004, and a Lady Dana live set captured my imagination with what could be done with it. However the hardstyle scene is losing fans.........

But now im 2011 myself and im sure a considerable number of other veteran partygoers remembered one of their first true loves.

Yes i mean trance.

The purity, the vocals, the emotional highs, all the things that we used to love.

And i think its time for a rebirth of trance in Australia, and if the excitement generated by ASOT is anything to go by, im not the only one thinking this.

Slightly reduces the bad taste in my mouth when Trance Energy said they werent coming back :(

Whats your thoughts on this?

Australia Day!

Australia Day is coming up (thank god) and im sure everyone is going to take advantage of a public holiday smack bang on a Wednesday, so it breaks up the working week well.........

But as there are a few events on, i wonder how many people will come to work on Thursday either recovering or still trashed?

Britney Spears: Hold It Against Me

Driving to work this morning i heard the latest "hit" from Britney Spears. To be honest its a very middle of the road track, without good producers i would say Britney Spears is a massive fail. The track itself is a catchy bass driven one with old school trance (think early naughties) but the vocals are terrible and remind me of the euro trash semi trance that people used to whinge about a few years back.

GG generic pop music Britney Spears, mega fail

Kyle & Sophie back on air this morning!

Thank god Kyle and Sophie are back on air this morning, something to listen to for the drive to work in the mornings. Although i must say i miss Jackie O, she balances out the show, where as although i like Sophie she doesnt have the same on air flair, nor does she really work well with Kyle, possibly because she hasnt had as many years to build rapport as Jackie O...........

Anyways good to have them back, i forgot who was covering for them the past few weeks as i didnt even listen, i dusted off some old CDs.

Been semi addicted to breakfast cereals recently, had an minor obsession with Just Right, now munching the Crunchy Nut even though i know neither are really that healthy :(

Fallout New Vegas

Yep, i just destroyed yet another keyboard, they are the outlet for any in game frustrations or annoyances.

The quests in this game are very annoying and prone to bugging, ruining what has been a stellar game otherwise.

The most recent source of annoyance is the BoS virus semi quest which is annoying because there are at least 2 scribes standing nearby, why the fuck dont they help out instead of you having to redo the quest endlessly till u get the 3 terminals correct?

The second most recent source of annoyance is that i cant complete some quest lines as i rescued the brahmin dealers son in the ultraluxe, but i came out the wrong exit and now the whole freaking place is hostile and i cant finish the quests. GO FUCKING GOING DEVELOPERS, way to piss off players, and browsing some game forums i can see i am not the only one sharing these feelings.

Feel free to rant in the comments below

ASOT 500 Sydney!

Im excited to AVB in Sydney again, this event should be huge and gives all us starving Trance addicts something to feed the addiction YAY!

Anyone else going? Must remember to get better pingers than last time..............

Sydney, Traffic and Road Rage

As per usual driving home i saw a large number of near accidents and risky driving techniques, both by private cars and trucks/buses. That got me thinking that its amazing Sydney firstly:

1. Has so few road deaths considering how badly and aggressively people drive,
2. Direly needs better transport systems especially inner city/CBD,
3. I cant remember the last road rage death, which is crazy when i see people lost in their own world driving at snails pace, oblivious to the huge traffic bottleneck they are creating................... YES THAT MEANS YOU PEOPLE ON THE M5 EAST YOU KNOW WHO U ARE!
4. Politicians need to use the road systems more regularly, especially non Labor pollies since Labor is most certainly out and Premier Kenneally will be deported possibly? After her term im sure she never wants to see or hear about NSW again.

So with those points in mind i am going to drive at 53kms on the M5 bottleneck near Moore Park on Monday morning and see how much i can piss other people off :)

New Sandy Bridge Architecture

Im kinda in two minds about this, i understand the theory behind Intels design, but i do not agree with having distinct OC chips and ones that are not, simply because it takes the fun out of PC hardware.

Considering the non OC chips, when you increase the clock it increases all the supporting clocks (PCIE and other bus clocks) making more than maybe 5Mhz increases unstable.

Is it fair? Im not huge on it at the moment, but having said that i also havent got my hands on any Sandy Bridge hardware yet, so i will reserve my judgement until then.

If anyone wants to give their opinion as a Sandy Bridge owner (K Series if possible) plz leave a comment :)

The Official First Post!

Ok so the Official First Post.......... capitalised of course! Nothing too special about it, kinda like when a new ship is launched a bottle of wine or alcohol is smashed against the side....... seems like a waste of drink to me! So i am e-smashing a bottle of alco in fallout new vegas to honor this stupendous event woohoo!

now back to killing cazadors.............
